Should we give McCain a look?

Rhetoric like this makes me think maybe he’s worthy of consideration: “Osama bin Laden is complaining the Sunni tribes are coming over to our side,” he said of Iraq. “By the way, I will get Osama bin Laden. I will follow him to the gates of hell. He is someone who must be brought to justice.”
Nobody else, on either side, seems to have this clarity of purpose that I find refreshing. It would be nice to hear some of the other candidates focus more clearly on the mastermind on 9/11.

Mr. McCain is a liberal. He has supported open borders and his campaign finance reform is laughable. He is an active supporter of gun control and voted against the Bush tax cuts in 2001 and 2003. Mr. McCain is routinely the first Republican to cross the aisle and kow tow to the Democrats. Joe Lieberman endorses him for President.
It seems as of late that McCain’s version of bipartisanship is desired by everyone and their mother. I disagree. This bipartisanship is completely wrong because the liberal Democrats are wrong in their policy positions. Why should we compromise conservative principles and policies for poor Democratic ones all in the name of bipartisanship? When you make deals with evil, evil will win. I abhor his record in this matter, and I believe that he will not stick to conservative policies if elected President.
Although I have a deep respect for Mr. McCain’s military service I cannot in good conscience support him and his political record.

Karl, I seriously hope you were either joking or drunken when you wrote this.
I think AWB’s assesment above is good enough that I will refrain from offering my own.

All I was really saying was that the rhetoric about following bin Laden to the gates of Hell, I thought was excellent. He, of all the candidates, seems to have the firmest grasp on what needs to be done in the “War on Terror.” That said, I agree with everything awb said.

One more thing. I think if Bush had had the single-mindedness of purpose that McCain seems to evince here, we may not have invaded Iraq – at least until bin Laden’s head was prominently displayed on the wrought iron fence in front of the White House.
