Whimpers From a Dying Horse
Eric Cantor (R-VA) has chosen Kevin McCarthy as his top deputy. Patrick O’Connor at Politico writes “Many view this pair as the next face of the GOP in the House.” If Cantor is the voice of the New Republican party, then all we shall hear is whimpers from a dying horse. Cantor signifies what is wrong with the GOP. While by no means wrong on every issue, he sure is wrong on some major ones, let’s examine.
HR 1424 (the bail-out bill) Cantor voted YES and cost us over $700,000,000,000 so far and any residue of an open and free market we were clinging to.
HR 3997 (the first bailout bill) At least Cantor wasn’t bought off with the pork in the second bill that finally passed, instead he was wrong all along.
HR 6867 Cantor voted to extend the Welfare state.
HR 6003 Cantor voted to throw more money at the bottomless pit known as Amtrak. That only cost us $15,830,000,000 and left us with trains that never run on time and cost way too much to ride.
HR 1429 Cantor voted to make it easier to dump your kids off rather than spend quality time with them and educate them in a responsible manner. Oh, and it cost us $$23,000,000,000.
HR 4890 Cantor voted for the completely unconstitutional line item veto. The Supreme Court already ruled against this, but why not waste time and vote for it again.
HR 2926 Showing his prowess for giving away taxpayer money, Cantor voted to give the airline industry $15,000,000,000 after 9/11. After all, private industry should only be private when there is a profit, right Eric?
These are just some of the monumental mistakes Cantor has been involved in. Click here to view all of Cantor’s voting record. Oh, and tell him to man up and take the political courage test! His support for the “bailout” bill alone should disqualify him for office. I am sick of Republicans, what I want are some conservatives. Thank God Tom McClintock won his seat in the House.
