“More Conservatives, But No Republicans”
Pajamas Media has a good article explaining how America is a center-right country more than ever, yet fewer people wish to call themselves Republicans.
Of course, I do not necessarily believe that is because the GOP has “moved left” or “abandoned conservative principles” so much as that the media has brainwashed people into believing the Republican party is “evil” among much else. I know many, like my dad, who are very conservative, vote Republican, yet are still registered Democrats (from their youth).
The Democrats have moved as far left as they have in their history (Obama/Pelosi/Dean/Kerry et al are Statist Radicals and would never be considered mainstream Democrats in years past), and yet are gaining party membership? That is not due to “conservatives” being discouraged by Bush’s spending or the neo-conservatives supporting wars abroad (those two groups would and still are voting Republican, considering the Leftists in the charge of the Dems), but rather obfuscation of issues, misinfo, brainwashing, ignorance and much else.
